Please post something about helpful tips on sight-reading. I find it so difficult to play the violin and then sight-read at the same time. I am thinking, maybe you have some advice on how to study sight-reading?

Thanks very much, Sir Steve. Warm greetings from the Philippines.

Hello again
my cousin wants me to teach her daugther to play the violin
and she is only 3 almost 4 years old, and thats so sweet..
i really want to but, I dont really know how to :S. cuz she is ... 3

so my question is how can i start?
how can i be really sure what size of violin is perfect 4 her, and is there a method for kids? i really want to do my best so she likes it, so it has to take her attention she is kind of hiperactive. =D is that a problem?

I have no idea what level you are playing on. But I recommend to stick to the basics. Play lots of scales. Or search for the article "Developing Speed" in this blog.
These exercises are a breeze for the right hand making it much easier to focus on the left hand. And they not only improve speed but also the grip and the left hand technique in general.
Play them daily. Don't expect to get better within minutes because it will take some time. Be careful to leave your fingers directly above the fingerboard and you'll succeed.

Could you write about more basic things? I am interested in the left hand, proper stance, violin hold and so on.

Regards from Sweden, Lars
